Service calls
Get more HVAC service calls
More service calls does not mean more form fills from people shopping five companies. It means more booked diagnostics, more dispatched trucks, more jobs that match what you actually run — and a calendar that isn’t empty because follow-up died.
I grew an electric and HVAC shop with my own marketing spend. Real tests, not theory. How Lead Junkie got built.
Repair intent vs replacement intent
“AC not cooling” is a service call with a clock on it. A changeout is a conversation. If your ads mix them, you’ll get the wrong homeowner on the phone and a tech who hates the lead source.
Google and Local Services Ads usually carry the emergency. Meta and TikTok can fill memberships, tune-ups, and replacement conversations — when the creative is a real job, not a stock family. Channel fit: Facebook ads vs Google ads for HVAC. Peak-heat twin: AC not cooling ads.
- Separate repair / no-cool from replacement and maintenance in accounts and landing pages
- Negatives for DIY, parts-only, jobs, and out-of-area
- Phone and book path above the fold — not a novel about comfort
- Geo to zips your trucks can hit today
The phone is the campaign
Missed calls at 6pm in July are lost service calls. Missed-call text-back and after-hours rules are not “extra.” They’re how HVAC shops keep the spend they already paid for.
Speed-to-lead is the product feature — not an upsell PDF. See HVAC speed-to-lead and HVAC SMS marketing. Instant Forms without a same-hour callback are a junk list with a nice CPM (Forms vs Messenger).
You may not need more cold leads
Before you buy another month of strangers, check the estimate graveyard and last year’s tune-ups. Follow-up after the estimate, reactivation campaigns, and membership marketing often fill more service-call capacity than another cold click.
Email and SMS that sound like your shop beat a national-brand newsletter: HVAC email marketing. Joey’s shop context (not client case studies): $750k own marketing spend growing electric + HVAC about $2.1M → $7M, plus Meta booked-job tests like 31 on $1,800 / 25 on $700. About. Those numbers taught me acquisition without reactivation is a leak.
Shoulder season vs summer discipline
Southeast summers hide sloppy marketing. Shoulder season doesn’t. When the heat index isn’t selling for you, memberships, tune-ups, and the list you already paid for keep trucks from sitting — see empty trucks HVAC marketing.
Don’t scale no-cool spend into a week you’re already double-booked. Capacity matching is part of “more service calls.” Angry leads and bad reviews from overselling a full board are not growth.
What a service-call-ready shop looks like
Before we talk budget on a call, I ask the same questions every time. Not because I’m selling a checklist — because if these are broken, more marketing just makes the leak bigger.
- Who answers the phone at 6pm on a Friday in July — and what happens when nobody does
- How fast a Meta or website form gets a text and a call
- Whether your CSR can book a diagnostic on the first call, not “we’ll call you back”
- Where the estimates from the last 90 days are sitting, and who owns follow-up
- Which zips your trucks can actually reach today
- How you know which channel booked the job — CRM, call tracking, or gut
Measure booked jobs, not vanity CPL
A cheap “lead” that never books can cost more than a pricier call that becomes a diagnostic. Track cost per booked job in your CRM, by channel: HVAC cost per lead vs cost per booked job.
Hub thinking for the whole stack: HVAC lead generation and how HVAC contractors get leads. No CPL guarantees. Google Ads, SEO, and Meta + TikTok Ads are $1,500/month each, no contract — see pricing. Southeast HVAC contractors: get a quote. Call 786-910-6062.
FAQ
- What’s the fastest way to get more HVAC service calls?
- Fix missed-call / after-hours response first, then match Google/LSA to repair intent. Don’t buy more Forms if nobody answers.
- Is Meta enough for service calls in July?
- Usually not for true no-cool emergencies. Search and LSA carry that intent. Meta supports memberships, offers, and proof.
- Should I buy marketplace leads?
- Most shops regret shared leads. Own the call: ads, SEO, and follow-up for your company. Hub: HVAC lead generation.
- My trucks are empty in April — same playbook as July?
- No. Lean memberships, reactivation, and tune-ups. See empty trucks and membership marketing.
