HVAC reactivation

HVAC reactivation campaigns: the list you already paid for

You may not need more new HVAC customers. You may need the estimates sitting in a folder and last summer’s tune-ups. Reactivation is cheaper than another month of cold Meta if follow-up is the leak.

I grew an electric and HVAC shop with my own marketing spend. Real tests, not theory. How Lead Junkie got built.

Who to talk to

Quotes that never closed. Memberships that lapsed. “Call us next spring.” People who already trust you enough to have let a tech in. That’s the list. Cold lookalikes are not a substitute.

Segment like an operator, not a blast tool: open changeout estimates, past no-cool customers due for maintenance, lapsed members, filter/IAQ opportunities, and “we’ll wait until bonus” tickets. Suppress wrong numbers, angry reviews, and out-of-area leftovers.

  • Dead estimates from the last 30–90 days (same-week follow-up first)
  • Last season’s service calls without a membership
  • Lapsed maintenance plans
  • Customers who said spring/fall — and meant it
  • Quiet VIPs (multi-system, commercial-light, referral sources)

From my content — my shop, not a client

I’ve said on TikTok you may not need more new customers, and I’ve talked about booking work with relatively small marketing spend on my own electric and HVAC business. Joey’s shop labels on this site: $750k own marketing spend, about $2.1M → $7M growth, Meta examples 31 booked on $1,800 and 25 on $700. Those clips are labeled on /videos. They are not Lead Junkie client case studies. They are why reactivation is part of the quote conversation.

Channels: SMS, email, phone — then paid if needed

Start owned: text and phone with a human reason (“your estimate from March,” “last summer’s tune-up,” “membership renewal”). Email supports; it rarely carries HVAC alone — see HVAC email marketing and HVAC SMS marketing.

Paid can retarget or promote a clean maintenance offer after the list is working — Meta depth at Meta ads, Forms vs Messenger chosen on purpose. Don’t buy cold traffic to avoid calling people who already know you.

Shoulder season is when reactivation pays the bills

Southeast summers inflate ego. Spring and fall show whether you have a business or a weather app. Membership pushes and dead-estimate digs keep trucks moving when no-cool search cools off — stack with membership marketing and follow-up after the estimate.

Empty trucks aren’t always a cold-lead problem: empty trucks HVAC marketing. If you do need new demand, match channel to job — Facebook ads vs Google ads for HVAC — and don’t skip speed-to-lead.

Measure booked jobs, not blast vanity

Opens and “leads generated” from a reactivation form mean nothing if nobody books. Track contact rate, booked jobs, revenue, and membership restarts. Compare honestly to cold CPL theater: cost per lead vs cost per booked job.

Conceptually, offline events / CRM feedback help ad platforms learn which people became customers — useful owner education, not a substitute for calling the list. Hub: HVAC lead generation.

FAQ

How often should HVAC shops run reactivation?
Ongoing for open estimates; seasonal pushes for maintenance and memberships — especially shoulder season in the Southeast.
Is reactivation the same as email marketing?
Email is one tool. Reactivation is the strategy: who, why now, and who calls. SMS and phone usually close more.
Should I pause cold ads during a reactivation week?
Not always. Fix capacity first. Don’t buy cold volume you can’t staff while the list sits untouched.
What if the CRM is a mess?
Start with exportable recent estimates and last year’s service calls. Perfect data is not required to make the first fifty calls.
Do you guarantee reactivation ROI?
No guarantees. We look at your list and follow-up before scaling spend. Call 786-910-6062.
